I still remembered the first time I attended secondary school, the CCA trials I have to take in order to join a CCA. I have been considering what CCA I should join, and if I can pass the trials of the various CCAs of my interest. Taking trials for CCAs you want to join is something new to me, as in my primary school, you can join any CCA you want without to attend any trials(provided if they have any empty slot left). Anyway, I joined badminton as my CCA when I was in my primary school, and was in the school team. So i can say that I will most probably not have any trouble passing the trials of the badminton team.
But i craved for a change; playing badminton throughout my primary and secondary school life did not appeal much to me. I was thinking of joining a different CCA, for example, the Chinese Orchestra or Pole Vaulting or even Choir. I was shortlisted for Choir and Pole Vault, but in the end I decided not to go to the Chinese Orchestra trials.
So now i have a choice in choosing between a non-physically challenging CCA-Choir, or a physically demanding sport-Pole Vault. But still I did not feel satisfied. I felt that something is missing. Until one of my friends reminded that the badminton trials is on that coming Friday did I realised that deep down inside me, i still wanted to continue playing badminton. Though a part of me still wanted a change, I decided to go for the badminton trials. Throughout the trials, i got to know that a classmate of mine, Jun Kang, had been a school team member of his old school, Montford Jr. He and I are one of the few to pass the trials. when we got pass the trials, the coach told us that we are in the team, and hence there is no need to fill up the CCA application form given to each student. We were hesitant though. He, like me, had not fully considered on joining badminton. But after much persuasion from the coach and the teacher-in-charge and knowing all that we wanted to know, we finally decided to enter the team.
So far I have not regretted joining badminton as my CCA, though it is a bit demanding in some aspects. I enjoy playing playing badminton, and its like something to balance the academic studies in this busy times, where we have more subjects to cope. Anyway, wish me and the whole team luck for the upcoming competitions!
